The Glass Gathering

A "Long Table Dinner" is a community event where a long table is set up, often outdoors, to encourage people to share a meal and engage in conversation, fostering connection and interaction among participants.

The Sandwich Glass Museum plans to host such a community event on the evening of July 25th, to celebrate the first "gather of glass" on July 4th 1825 in the newly built glass factory, by the young Charles Lapham, at the time only 16 years of age.

The festivities will continue through the weekend, as Saturday and Sunday July 26th and 27th we will be holding a retail sales event from 10-2 each day under the tent on the lawn, showcasing Sandwich and Cape Cod glass artists, the living legacy of that momentous occasion 200 years ago!
