The tavern glass, popularly referred to as a thumper, was the standard drinking glass in New England taverns in the early to mid 1800s.
This historical reproduction thumper was hand blown here in Sandwich by McDermott Glass Studio

Reproduction of the Month
The Sandwich Historical Society has commissioned reproduction pressed glass tableware and cup plates using the same tools and techniques used in the 19th Century at the Boston & Sandwich Glass Company.
